Philip ran up and heard him reading Isaiah the prophet, and said, “Do you understand what you are reading?” And he said, “Well, how could I, unless someone guides me?” And he invited Philip to come up and sit with him. Acts 8:30,31

Whereas Scripture is the best expositor of Scripture – from time to time we may all need a Philip or a guide. We see this exemplified in our text above. Today, the guiding man is needed still. Divines who have studied the Scriptures have left us great stores of holy thought which we do well to use – but not abuse. As such you will see us at Wholly Biblical from time to time feature the commentary or advice of trusted men to help aid in the understanding of a portion of Scripture. As a general rule – all of those we feature are giants of old and as such have passed away. Thus – we lovingly call them DeadGuydes. We feature these DeadGuydes to a lesser extent where deemed helpful – as we desire Scripture to be first and most in the hearts and hands of believers – instead of the words or writings of men.
